Diabetic kidney Disease(DKD), also known as diabetic nephropathy, is a chronic loss of kidney function caused by damage to the blood vessels in kidneys from diabetes. The glomeruli, filters of the kidneys are damaged.  It is the leading cause of chronic kidney disease and end-stage renal disease globally. Raised levels of albumin in the urine are the first sign.
